Dr. Ayesha Pamela Rogers

Senior Advisor - Heritage Preservation

Dr. Ayesha Pamela Rogers is Senior Adviser for Heritage Preservation at Manāra, bringing more than four decades of field and advisory experience in archaeology and heritage management across Asia, the Middle East, and now Canada. She is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the development of Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) as a tool for protecting cultural heritage within contemporary development and infrastructure planning, having overseen or conducted more than two hundred HIA studies across Hong Kong, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Laos. Dr. Rogers currently serves as Director of Archaeological Assessments Ltd, a heritage consultancy she founded in Hong Kong in 1997, and as Principal of Northern Heritage Consulting, her newly established practice in Prince George, British Columbia. She holds Adjunct Professor appointments in Anthropology and in Global and International Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia. For more than fifteen years, she directed Rogers Kolachi Khan and Associates, a heritage consultancy based in Lahore, where her work included master planning for the Shalamar Gardens and Lahore Fort UNESCO World Heritage properties, heritage impact assessment for the Lahore Metro Orange Line, and cultural mapping for the Karez system nomination in Balochistan. Her career has combined active archaeological fieldwork, including excavations across Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Pakistan, Turkey, and Greece, with sustained engagement in UNESCO's regional heritage programming. She has served as a technical adviser to UNESCO Bangkok and an adviser to the World Bank on cultural heritage safeguards, reviewed World Heritage nominations for the ICOMOS International Secretariat, and led training programs on Heritage Impact Assessment for national governments across South and Southeast Asia. She held Antiquities Advisory Board and Town Planning Board memberships for the Government of Hong Kong for close to a decade, and was previously Academic Coordinator of the Centre for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management at the National College of Arts, Lahore, where she taught for over a decade. Dr. Rogers holds a PhD in Archaeology from University College London's Institute of Archaeology, an MA in Archaeology and Ancient History from the University of Birmingham, and a BA in Classical Studies from the University of British Columbia. She is the author of numerous publications on heritage impact assessment, historic urban landscapes, and cultural mapping, and continues to write on heritage in the north of British Columbia through her project, Northern Heritage. At Manāra, she brings global heritage and cultural impact assessment expertise to projects involving built heritage, cultural landscapes, and development planning in sensitive historic contexts.
